Who We Are |
Who We AreWe are a group of local people: Alessandro, Bartolomeo, Daniele, Franco, Margherita, Franca, Piero. Spend one, two or three days of your holiday at Vernazza, one of the most beautiful places on Earth with us. We are sure to offer you a wonderful holiday. Our AssociationThe Cinqueterre Cultural Association (CCA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the culture, history, landscape, agriculture, and gastronomy of the region. Based in Vernazza, the CCA organizes meetings, training courses, research, and working holiday programs. As a membership-based organization, CCA limits some of its programs to members, and opens others, such as the working holidays, to the general public. Funds raised by the CCA cover its operating expenses, with a small portion disbursed to member associations for their work. Meet All of UsEvery one of us lives and works in Vernazza and we look forward to seeing you here!
AlessandroAle is a sixth-generation Vernazzeso with both a passion and a vision for preserving the unique culture of the Cinque Terre. His work in this program is an offshoot of his experience at the Italian Environmental Impact Assessment Center (EIA) in Milan, where he first developed the pilot project that developed into the Protect the Cinque Terre Program. Please see the award bestowed on our good friend Alessandro! His bravery was awarded by the President of the Republic....
BartolomeoBartolo is a professor in the Agriculture Faculty at the University of Pisa and lifelong resident of Vernazza. In addition to his university work, Bartolo owns vineyards in Vernazza and makes some very good wine at his winery, Cheo.
LizaLiza, Bartolomeo's wife and partner in local farming, helps produce one of the best white wines of the Cinque Terre. They'll show you the ancient methods used to harvest grapes on the terraces around Vernazza.
DanieleAt the young age of 31, Daniele is already the vice-mayor of the municipality of Vernazza. He's also an expert in local wines, which makes him a very useful acquaintance in the Cinque Terre.
FrancaAle doesn't want to brag, but Franca is his sister, and just happens to be an excellent cook. She's in charge of making sure you eat only memorable meals while you're here, and will even show you how to cook one or more of the typical dishes of the region.
AndreaAndrea is un pescatore straordinario — an expert fisherman — without all the fish stories! He will, however, show you all the secret corners of our little slice of the Mediterranean. Corrado Corrado has an excellent restaurant in Manarola, where we'll go for a first-class meal on one of the nights of the program. Margherita Margherita is Ale's mamma. She's 82 years old, and we all listen to her ideas, because they're such treasures. And besides, she's mamma! Copyright © 2005-2006 Protect the Cinque Terre Program. All rights reserved. |
